Four Quarters

Don’t misunderstand. I’m not checking out just changing gears. The arrivederci of my last post is really good bye to career number one. It has been a lot of fun but it’s done. Time to do something now that holds my passion. Time to do something that benefits my peers. As I mentioned at the outset, my generation, the baby boomers, are under represented on most all of this social media stuff. We are more consumer than creator.

I intend put my thumb on the scale and advance our creator position.

I think it breaks down into twenty-year quarters. The first quarter, the first 20 years, are with mom and dad. You are their problem. Not much opportunity for creativity or individuality. The second quarter, you’re on your own. Making problems. Those years from 20 to 40 – that’s when I made most of my mistakes.

The third quarter, those years from 40 to 60 something, I think maybe that’s the best quarter so far. For me, I finally got it figured out. I stopped making so many mistakes. Don’t get me wrong, I’m the reason the pencil eraser was invented. I still make plenty of mistakes. However in the third quarter I was smart enough to recognize those mistakes sent them right.

Now this fourth quarter – this 60 until the finish line (whenever that is) that’s got to be the best one ever.  All of the wisdom from the first three quarters, the things I did that were stupid that got me in trouble, the wisdom I accumulated and finally the measure of success that I achieved….. Those are all combined to position me for this fourth-quarter.  It promises to be a gang buster.  This fourth quarter is my chance to give back.  To share whatever wisdom I’ve acquired.  The fourth quarter is my chance to help my fourth quarter peers and counsel those in their own second and third quarters.

Alright. The introductions are over.  Let’s go……………
